Family information: Sister to Mary Thompson, suffragette.

Additional Information: Margaret first joined the law-abiding NUWSS, but after attending a WSPU meeting in 1909, took more direct action. She was arrested and sentenced to one month in prison for taking part in a deputation to the House of Commons, and in 1911 for taking part in window smashing. She was sentenced to ten days in prison. Margaret was arrested again in 1912 for window smashing and was sentenced to six months in Holloway Prison. She went on hunger strike and was forcibly fed for two weeks before being released early. Later, Margaret joined the United Suffragists (US), who kept working for women's suffrage during the First World War.
